Who we are

Who They Are:

RiverRescues ltd is a non-profit organization run by a small team of trained and dedicated volunteers. They rescue predominantly reptiles and exotics but also support other animals and pet owners in need of a helping hand.

AJ River is the founder of RiverRescues and has many years of experience. Himself, along with his team of volunteers and fosters, work in Edinburgh and around Scotland’s central belt to help rehoming and rehabilitating pets around the clock, cleaning animal enclosures and offering pet services. RiverRescues has helped many animals suffering from neglect or abuse, with behavioural issues, those who are unwell or those who can simply no longer be cared for. They also support existing pet owners with everyday animal tasks.

They’ve Seen It All...

RiverRescues has dealt with very aggressive animals, animals with severe skin disorders, pets with missing limbs, severe medical and dietary need, and so much more.

The gist is, if they’re able to help they will.

Since starting in 2023, RiverRescues has helped thousands of animals, with animal support lasting from a couple of hours to a couple of months, all in order to prepare animals for their forever homes.

How They're Funded:

RiverRescues is a social enterprise, which means they run fully on the help of donations to support further rescues. Both cash and animal product donations are always welcome!

Any and all money made from donations, adoption fees or provided services goes back into helping other rescues.
